Elements and Performance Criteria
- Carry out pre-operational checks on vehicles
- Pre-operational checks for vehicle and its associated ancillary equipment are carried out in accordance with manufacturer requirements, government regulations and workplace policies and procedures
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
- Faults and defects identified during checks are repaired and/or reported in accordance with workplace procedures
- Drive a vehicle used by passengers who have a disability
- Passengers are assisted in a courteous manner, sensitive to the specific needs of their disability
- Passengers are assisted to use restraints and ancillary equipment that accompanies them as required
- Ongoing support is provided to passengers to maximise their travelling comfort
- Ancillary equipment is stowed safely in vehicle in accordance with relevant regulations
- Vehicle is manoeuvred in accordance with the regulations for the class of vehicle involved
- Vehicle is manoeuvred with due consideration to required precautions related to the disability of the passenger in accordance with relevant government regulations pertaining to the special load
- Signs or indicators are fixed to vehicle as required
